The first Club Netball Saturday has kicked off with even more than it promised! Our draws are structured in a seeded manner so over the course of the round the games get closer, as closer seeds play one another. The number of and level of skilled players in our compeition has arguably increased, and as seen on Saturday, creating some really tight games!

Check out the wrap up of our Premier A Competition below - so good to see so many of the Steel and Beko players playing too! The Men's game was also highly competitive with the younger Men's team getting one over the Men's B team, 54 43!

A clutch shot in the dying seconds of the game allowed South Pacific Titans A to triumph over College A which had one player sent off in its 55-54 loss.

After being cautioned and warned by umpire Grace Farquharson for constant infringing, Markham  College centre Julia Law spent two minutes on the sideline in the middle of the final quarter, leaving her team to battle with only six players.

Dihan Strickland moved from wing attack into centre in an effort to steady the team but Titans hung on to their lead.

Law returned to the court but a key deflection from Titans goal keep Maddy Campbell in the last minute of the game sealed the deal for her team.

Its attack end worked the ball around under pressure and goal attack Nadia Lyders scored the final goal with 10 seconds to spare on the clock.

College had a strong first quarter to lead 13-11 at the break. Goal keep Ella Wood played out of her skin, pulling in big intercepts.

Titans found their stride in the second quarter with a strong defensive zone making it hard for College to penetrate the middle and gain flow on attack and went into the halftime break ahead 27-25.

College  attack Kiana Pelasio cut through the defence in the last quarter, slotting goals and helping her team run goal for goal with the Titans.

Titans’ ability to treasure possession at crucial times, accurately feed and play with composure meant they took home the big win.

Southern A thumped University Albion B 68-28 with Southern wing attack Zoey Flockton’s ball speed tearing apart University Albion’s defence end.

Phys Ed B comfortably beat St Hilda’s Collegiate School A 60-48.

In the last game of the round, Phys Ed A narrowly escaped University Albion A, winning 59-54.

Phys Ed goal keeper Laura Overton had a strong game at the back picking up several deflections and rebounds, which allowed Phys Ed to go into the half time break leading 34-24.

The gutsy University Albion side clawed its way back in the third spell, winning the quarter 17-10.

Bethany Roberston came on at goal attack opening up the attack line with strong offloads to goal shooter Renee Tuifagald.

Up by only three goals going into the fourth quarter, Phys Ed pulled away from University Albion, as perfect feeding from centre Kate Heffernan into goal shoot Sarah Boomer brought the side home.
