Year 1 & 2 Netball​​​​​​​

Day: Tuesday

Time: 3:30pm & 4:15pm (5pm round if needed)

Game Days: 28 May - Skills Day, 

4 June, 11 June, 18 June, 25 June, 2 July, 23 July, 30 July, 6 August, 13 August 

20 August - Final Fun Day (Dress up theme - Olympics)

Registrations: Taken through schools.

The focus for this age group is on exploring netball and the development of fundamental movement and ball skills.Teams provide a coach/umpire (can be the same person). It's designed to be fast and fun, maximising participation and touches of the ball.

There are coaching resources available for coaches to use during weekly practices.


Game Day Format

Warm up: 5 minute Netball Smart power warm up, ball skill, bibs.

Game: 4 x 7 minutes quarters.

Breaks: 1 minute, 3 minutes, 1 minute.

28 May - Skills Day

Dunedin Netball staff and volunteers will be on court to help with the first day of netball. Staff will assist coaches in Netball Smart warm up and skill delivery ensuring they have access to resources and know where to get help if needed. The format will be similar to a normal game day just with a shortened game time.

Format:

Warm up: 7 minutes includes Netball Smart power warm up

Skill session: 14 minutes includes Netball Smart power warm up

Rules and positions on court: 5 minutes

Game: 2x7 minute halves

Break: 3 minutes


20 August - Final Fun Day​​​​​​​
This is the final day of netball for all Year 1 - 6 players on Tuesday 20 August at the Edgar Centre.
The festival will have an Olympic theme and players are encouraged to dress up.
There will be certificates, music, photo opportunities and some giveaways. We are looking forward to a fun afternoon!

Coach Workshops

Coach workshops will be held for any interested coaches.

Dunedin Netball is offering a number of coaching workshops for primary coaches. The aim of these workshops is to provide coaches with the foundational skills needed to deliver quality, age-appropriate coaching sessions.
