Get Ready for the Season

Year 1 - 4
A four-week programme held on Tuesday afternoons during April and May that is designed to give all players, whether they are new to netball or have played previously, an opportunity to get ready for the upcoming netball season. It is an opportunity to develop the basic skills, understand some of the basic rules of netball and be introduced to the NetballSmart Programme.

Programme Dates: April 30, May 7,14, 21 - 3:45pm - 4:30pm. Edgar Centre.

Numbers for the Year 1 - 4 Get Ready for the Season Programme may be capped dependent on registration numbers, but we will do our best to accommodate all interested players. Registrations are accepted on a first in, first served basis. Year 5 & 6

Year 7 & 8 
A four-week programme held on Thursday afternoons during May that is designed to give all players, whether they are new to netball or have played previously, an opportunity to get ready for the upcoming netball season. It is an opportunity to develop the basic skills, understand the basic rules of netball, transition to the 7-aside game, and be able to gain the Bronze Award in our NetballSmart Programme.

Programme Dates: May 2, 9, 16, 23.
Year 7: 4pm - 5:30pm - Edgar Centre.
Year 8: 6pm - 7:30pm - Edgar Centre.

Year 7 and 8 Development Programme​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

At Year 7 & 8 age-group Dunedin Netball believe it is valuable to give opportunities for all players to experience development and tournaments.

All players who register for the Year 7 & 8 Development Programme will be exposed to coaches who will help develop netball skills, NetballSmart awareness and team building during the 4 week programme which will include two development tournaments in Balclutha and Dunedin.

No trials will be held, rather players will be randomly assigned to teams. All players are welcome.

Sunday August 18 - Dunedin 

Year 9 and 10 Development Days

Dunedin Netball is running development days for our Year 9 and 10 players. This will be a two day programme running on Sunday May 26, and June 16. 

Currently open to all players in these year groups, these days will involve fitness, game play as well as athlete well-being sessions.

This programme is a great opportunity to develop game knowledge and skills and also a good lead into Y9&10 Development Team trials. The programme delivers in the areas of skill development, components of sports science, NetballSmart and game play and is new for 2024. These development days replace the U14 development programme held previously.

Spaces will likely be limited dependent on registrations. Registrations may close early if maximum capacity is reached.

Under 18 and Under 16 Development Day

This will be a one-off development day held on Sunday May 5.

Currently open to all players in these age groups. This day will involve fitness, game play as well as athlete well-being sessions.

This programme is a great opportunity to develop game knowledge and skills and also a good lead into representative trials and the rep season. The programme delivers in the areas of skill development, components of sports science, NetballSmart and game play and has always been well attended.

Spaces will likely be limited dependent on registrations. Registrations may close early if maximum capacity is reached.

Programme Details:

Sunday May 5 - 10am - 2pm. Edgar Centre.

To be eligible for Under 16, players must be either 14 or 15, and year 11 or older on January 1, 2024.
To be eligible for Under 18, players must be either 16 or 17 on January 1, 2024.
Players can only register in the age group they are eligible for, and cannot play up an age-group.
