Get Ready for the Season

Dunedin Netball is running a Get Ready for the Season Programme again for players Years 1 - 8 during April and May in term two at the Edgar Centre. 
Registrations close for all age-groups on 22 April.

Year 7 and 8 Development Programme​​​​​​​

At Year 7 & 8 age-group Dunedin Netball believe it is valuable to give opportunities for all players to experience development and tournaments.

All players who register for the Year 7 & 8 Development Programme will be exposed to coaches who will help develop netball skills, NetballSmart awareness and team building during the 4 week programme which will include a development tournament in Dunedin on 10 August.

No trials will be held, rather players will be randomly assigned to teams. All players are welcome.

Year 9 and 10 Development Programme

Dunedin Netball is running a Development Day and Trials for our Year 9 & 10 players. This will be held on 15 June

Get Ready for the Season

Year 1 - 4
A  programme held on Tuesday afternoons during April and May that is designed to give all players, whether they are new to netball or have played previously, an opportunity to get ready for the upcoming netball season. It is an opportunity to develop the basic skills, understand some of the basic rules of netball and be introduced to the NetballSmart Programme.

Programme Dates: 29 April; 6, 13, 20 May

Numbers for the Year 1 - 4 Get Ready for the Season Programme may be capped dependent on registration numbers, but we will do our best to accommodate all interested players. Registrations are accepted on a first in, first served basis. Please note that payment is required at the time of registration and if payment is not received for any reason, the player registration is not confirmed.

Year 5 & 6  
A programme held on Tuesday afternoons during April and May that is designed to give all players, whether they are new to netball or have played previously, an opportunity to get ready for the upcoming netball season. It is an opportunity to develop the basic skills, understand some of the basic rules of netball, transition to the 7-a-side game, and be introduced to the NetballSmart Programme.

Year 7 & 8 
A programme held on Thursday afternoons during May that is designed to give all players, whether they are new to netball or have played previously, an opportunity to get ready for the upcoming netball season. It is an opportunity to develop the basic skills, understand the basic rules of netball, and be able to gain the Bronze Award in our NetballSmart Programme.

Programme Dates: 1, 8, 15, 22 May

16, 23, 30 July; 6 August - 4:30pm - 6pm. Edgar Centre

Development Tournament Dates: 
Sunday 10 August - Dunedin 


Year 9 and 10 Development Day

Dunedin Netball is running a development day and trials for our Year 9 and 10 players. This will be held on 15 June

Currently open to all players in these year groups, this day will involve fitness, game play as well as athlete well-being sessions and trials for the Development Teams.

This programme is a great opportunity to develop game knowledge and skills and also a good lead into development tournaments. The programme delivers in the areas of skill development, components of sports science, NetballSmart and game play. These development days replace the U14 development programme held previously.

Spaces will likely be limited dependent on registrations. Registrations may close early if maximum capacity is reached.

Programme Details: 

15 June - 10am - 4pm, Edgar Centre


Under 18 and Under 16 Development Days

These will be held on April 28 and 29 

Currently open to all players in these age groups. These sessions will involve fitness, game play as well as athlete well-being sessions. Trials for both U18 and U16 teams will be held on these days

This programme is a great opportunity to develop game knowledge and skills and also a good lead into the rep season. The programme delivers in the areas of skill development, components of sports science, NetballSmart and game play and has always been well attended.

Spaces will likely be limited dependent on registrations. Registrations may close early if maximum capacity is reached.

Programme Details:

Monday 28 April and Tueday 29 April - 6-9pm. Edgar Centre.

To be eligible for Under 16, players must be either 14 or 15, and Year 11 or above on January 1, 2025.
To be eligible for Under 18, players must be either 16 or 17 on January 1, 2025.
Players can only register in the age group they are eligible for, and cannot play up an age-group.
