To all members of Dunedin Netball
This afternoon, Netball New Zealand (NNZ) have advised all netball centres that all netball community events, competitions, programmes, tournaments, workshops and player development programmes planned to be conducted are to be postponed until Saturday 2 May 2020 at the earliest.
Umpires, officials, players and committees meeting to prepare for a May start are encouraged to conduct essential meetings online wherever practicable. Where this is not practicable, all current Ministry of Health recommendations around safe practises should be adhered to. Ministry of Health Link
Recognising the need for teams to prepare for a competition starting from 2 May at the earliest, clubs and schools in the process of trialling, naming teams and commencing trainings are to postpone until four weeks before the start of their competition or the first week in April at the earliest. Given the changing environment this position may change in coming weeks.
This advisory is effective immediately.
Netball New Zealand and the Zones are liaising with government officials at national and regional levels in both health and sport constantly, monitoring all developments and reviewing the above advisory fluidly and in response to the changing environment.
What does this mean for netball in Dunedin?
Effective immediately Premier pre season tournament is cancelled. All age group development programmes, pre season programmes and Premier Senior competitions are postponed until at least on or after the 2nd May or until further notice.
These developments are happening rapidly and as a board, Dunedin Netball are working on the impact to all members and our centre. We will continue to keep you updated of progress, as and when it comes to hand.
We are currently working through changes to programme and competition dates and refund procedures for programmes that were due to start this month. Please understand we are working on solutions and options to address these issues and we will provide information as soon as we can.
In the meantime, we appreciate how great the netball whānau are at supporting each other, this is a difficult time for all, and we appreciate your understanding. We will do our utmost to get everyone back on court as soon as it is safe to do so.
